Summer is just around the corner. The extreme heat and the first visits to the beach make it evident that it is approaching. After a year marked by quite atypical weather, high temperatures are experiencing a considerable boom in many cities.

The exercise is very important not only to have a physical 10 in summer, but for your body. It should not be a practice that pursues this first objective, so it is preferable to do it throughout the year in moderation and in order to have good health avoiding a sedentary lifestyle.

In summer, however, you have to take a series of tips into account and in this article we will tell you what they are.

What tips should be taken into account to exercise in summer?

The first and most important of these is to take into account heat stroke. Put the fact of practicing sports between 12:00 noon and 4:00 p.m. out of your mind. During this time, rest, have a drink on a shady terrace, or relax at home. The high temperatures that are concentrated during these hours, together with exercise, cause health to be seriously affected. Remember that when you practice sports it is vital to hydrate properly, since during exercise, electrolytes and water are lost.

Another important tip that we have already mentioned above is to protect yourself from the sun. We are increasingly aware of the dangers of being exposed to it without adequate protection. Normally, they tell us to protect ourselves from solar radiation while we are on the beach or in the pool, but it is not enough. During exercise we must also protect ourselves adequately with sunscreen. 45 minutes before going out to exercise, it is advisable to apply it to the face, arms, legs, neck and hands. Likewise, it is also recommended to use a lip balm, since this area is very sensitive to the sun’s rays, and we do not always give it the attention it deserves.

As for the clothes to be used, do not forget the hat and sunglasses. However, there is still more, since it is advisable to wear walkable garments with light colors and fresh fabrics. In this way, we will be able to alleviate the heat to a great extent. The fourth tip is related to food. If you decide to go out to exercise, do not opt for very heavy foods and in large quantities. It is preferable to opt for a lighter diet and it should be eaten 2 hours before practicing sports, so as not to suffer a digestion cut.

The last tip is to keep an eye on the time and the thermometer. If the temperature is higher than 30ºC, give up the idea of doing sports, nothing happens. In fact, the most suitable times of the day to practice it are during the first hours of the morning or around 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Another option is to practice summer sports related to water, since the heat will be much less suffocating. All precaution is little when it comes to practicing sports in summer, so take note and enjoy its benefits with common sense.
